Multifamily Properties

Panama City Real Estate - Article

While smaller apartment properties are not considered a major commercial investment, apartment units such as duplexes and triplexes should be considered as a source of Commercial Real Estate Investment

Many investors and real estate professionals use apartment buildings as a point of entry to a career in Commercial Real Estate  and to build their equity before moving on to larger Commercial Real Estate investmemts.

Duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes are two, three and four-unit buildings that may or may not be owner occupied. They are usually an investors first Commercial Real Estate investment outside of single-family residences.

More experienced investors often own apartment buildings with four to 60 units to maximize their ROI. Larger apartment properties are referred to as multifamily properties in Commercial Real Estate.

Rental income from apartments is typically quoted on a monthly basis but may be expressed as annual income as well.

Information regarding multifamily investments can also be found at the National Apartment Association (NAA, http://www.naahq.org/) and the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC, http://www.nmhc.org/)
