As the Panama City area continues to grow and gain popularity for small business owners, it becomes clear that there is a need for guidance for new business owners as well as established business owners considering relocating their businesses to the Panama City - Bay County Florida area.
With that in mind, I am pleased to offer my Small business owners guide as a starting point to assist those in need.
So you want to buy a business
Perhaps more in today’s economy more so then ever before, people are looking to become business owners and work for themselves.
This is no surprise because there is a great level of personal satisfaction that comes with owning a successful business. However, there is also quiet a bit of work, long hours and levels of expertise that are required to make the business successful.
There are many ways and categories of buying a small business such as; purchasing a franchise, purchasing a successful, existing business or financing a start up.
How to select a Business for purchase
There is no guarantee when buying a business that it comes with a sound set of financial information or that you will be able to make a success of it.
In a small to medium business, financial information is often a record of what the previous owner did, and consequently may not be a valid indicator of how you will perform in the same business. For example, unless you have experience in the hospitality business don't buy this type of business.

Many new business owners are not aware of the Small Business Administration and how it can assist small business owners.
The Small Business Administration website has many useful articles and online training exercises to help small businesses become successful. You will have to register to take the online training, but it is well worth it.
